ATLANTA (AP) — Rosalynn Carter was remembered Tuesday as a former U.S. first lady who leveraged her fierce intellect and political power to put her deep Christian faith into action by always helping others, especially those who needed it most.A gathering of first ladies and presidents — including her 99-year-old husband Jimmy Carter — joined other political figures in tribute. But a parade of speakers said her global stature wasn’t what defined her.“She had met kings and queens, presidents, others in authority, powerful corporate leaders and celebrities,” her son James Earl “Chip” Carter III said. “She said the people that she felt the most comfortable with and the people she enjoyed being with the most were those that lived in absolute abject poverty, the ones without adequate housing, without a proper diet and without access to health care.”The service was held during three days of events celebrating the humanitarian who died Nov. 19 at home in Plains, Georgia, at the age of 96. PARIS (AP) — Kylian Mbappé’s penalty deep into stoppage time salvaged a point for Paris Saint-Germain in a 1-1 draw with an injury-depleted but tenacious Newcastle team.Alexander Isak scored on a rebound in the 24th minute, making up for his earlier miss when he shot over the bar from close range.Miguel Almirón sent in a speculative shot from the edge of the box and PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma could only push it away to Isak’s feet for an easy finish.PSG wasted chance after chance and Newcastle seemed on course to pull off another unlikely win to follow the 4-1 victory over the same opposition last month. That was until Ousmane Dembélé flicked the ball up in the fifth minute of stoppage time and it bounced off Tino Livramento’s chest and onto his arm. Referee Szymon Marciniak gave a penalty after watching the incident on video review and Mbappé blasted the spot-kick past goalkeeper Nick Pope.Newcastle was missing 11 players to various injuries and Sandro Ton...

Just Chillin

Blustery and cold for the day. The sun helped a bit but the dang wind kept getting in the way of nice moments. I’ve always held the belief that the wind is the true enemy of the coldest season. Give me 30 degrees and calm conditions over 40 degrees and wind any day–including Taco Tuesday! Our high temps were close to 40 this afternoon and that was below normal by a few degrees. When you look at where our high temps normally occur, it’s usually in the 40s or 50s…22 of 30 days either have high temps in the 40s or 50s. This November has been pretty typical…The core of the cold air is with us right now (Tuesday evening) and will be with us for about another 24 hours as the cold temps extend west toward Chicago…The upshot of this cold air is that it is dry so while Wednesday is another cold day we have another mostly sunny day on tap…High temps will generally run below normal by 5-8 degrees but that wind won’t be so rude and disruptive when ...
